Joe started sailing with friends in 2012. Shortly afterward he completed Basic Keelboat and Basic Coastal Cruising certifications at Spinnaker Sailing and started skippering Merit 25s and Catalina 27s for day trips with friends and family around the San Francisco bay. After a year crewing in winter series and beer can races, he skippered races for a year in the 2014-2015 winter series and beer can seasons. Joe completed his Bareboat Charter (BBC) certification in 2015 and joined the December 2015 Spinnaker BVI flotilla as a bareboat skipper, with his wife and two kids as crew. He has logged 61 days (and counting) of sailing on 25’-42’ sailboats. Joe is a den leader in his son’s cub scout pack, and serves as a trainer for new scout leaders. To support his sailing habit he works as a technical manager at a hi-tech company.
