Skippered Sail Program

Skippered Charters

Spinnaker Sailing offers private skippered charters for those groups just wanting a fun day of sailing on the Bay! Our fleet of boats range from 25 feet to 41 feet and can carry anywhere from 3 – 6 people per boat. This is a great option for small groups and/or for those groups looking for a more leisurely option for a sailing activity.

Participants are encouraged but not required to help sail the boat. Rates are based on the size of the boat and the duration of the charter. Charter guests may also elect to bring their own food and beverage aboard.

“Miss T” is a fine example of Beneteau’s world-class Oceanis line of cruising sailboats. Designed by the famed French firm, Finot Conq, the Beneteau 37 compromises neither interior volume nor performance. The result is a boat that is beautiful to look at, commodious, and yet a true performer.

Immediately noticeable are the lengthy and sharp hull lines—a definite nod to Finot Conq’s performance pedigree and not too dissimilar from their race winning IMOCA 60 designs. The cockpit is airy and spacious with plenty of room for skipper, crew, and guests. All of the running rigging is easily accessible and nicely streamlined for simplicity. The addition of lazy jacks and a stack-pack configuration makes setting and dousing the mainsail quick and easy. When at dock or anchor, a centrally located table can be folded out to convert the cockpit to a pleasant picnic area. Additionally, the leather-wrapped wheel is a nice touch that will definitely add to the skipper’s enjoyment.

The interior of the Beneteau Oceanis 37 is awesomely clean, modern and sleek! After stepping down into the cabin you find a reasonably sized galley to port and a well-designed nave station to starboard. Beyond the galley is a folding table large enough to accommodate a full crew dinner. Beyond that is a standard v-birth equipped with closet and drawers. Additional sleeping arrangements can be found in the well-sized quarter berth.

The Merit 25 is a solidly built 25-foot sloop that seats five comfortably in a self-draining cockpit. Despite relatively simple control systems, the Merit has the durability and flexibility for comfortable, all-season sailing in the Bay Area, where typical wind speeds can range from near zero to above 25 knots.  Spinnaker’s Merits are rigged for sailing in good daytime visibility under a full main and working-size roller-furled jib. Most of the club’s Merits can carry spinnakers as well. All the mainsails can be reefed for winds above 18 or so knots. In strong winds, the boat can be sailed comfortably under reefed main and reduced or completely furled jib.
