Harish first learned to sail at the MIT Sailing Club on Boston’s Charles River. (The club still keeps his 1994 membership card and gives all its alumni sailing privileges!) After a decade-long hiatus, he resumed sailing at Baltimore’s Downtown Sailing Center (DSC), where he currently sails, teaches Basic Keelboat, races at the DSC’s one-design spinnaker class race series (on zippy J-22’s) and is a cruising skipper. He also serves as a BK instructor at J World Annapolis and as a coach for the Annapolis Yacht Club’s Frostbite race series (on J-80’s). If you get the drift (no pun intended), yes – he does live on the East Coast (where he moonlights as an Investment professional during the day)! A few years ago, when visiting San Francisco and beholding beautiful sailboats out on the bay in February, he started California Dreamin’ (or should we say California Sailin’)?! After looking at real estate values and realizing he’d never be able to move here, he crafted an alternate route – visiting his son who lives in the Bay Area as often as possible! He reached out to Spinnaker Sailing and is now a “visiting instructor”. He is grateful for the warm welcome he received and looks forward to many seasons of fun sailing in San Francisco Bay.
