The Boats
Our group will use 43 and 45 foot sloops. These yachts are equipped with 3 double and 1 single cabin. We'll limit the number of people to keep it comfortable for everybody. The boats come equipped with full galley facilities including refrigeration and propane stove with oven. Each boat also comes with a transom charcoal barbecue grill.

Dining
Sunsail will be providing order forms for custom provisioning for each boat. Each crew will fill out the provisioning order at the cruise meeting and we'll pay when we arrive in St. vincent. We'll also be going out for dinner occasionally. Sometimes fishermen come by in their boats to take orders for fresh fish.

. Diving & Snorkeling in The Windwards
The Windwards offer a variety of diving and snorkeling opportunities. Although snorkeling gear comes with the boats, many cruisers bring their own masks. Scuba gear can be rented at various facilities along the way . Also, dive companies at many of the islands will come out to our boats to pick up divers for rendezvous diving.

The reefs in the Caribbean have abundant sea life and beauty and are well suited for both snorkeling and diving. Divers must be certified for unsupervised scuba diving. There are opportunities for the uncertified to try scuba diving in an introductory or "resort" course that usually costs less than $100. This is only recommended for those who are already comfortable at snorkeling.

Bareboat Charter Certification
Certification is available to Basic Coastal Cruising graduates.  The cost is $285.00 extra for text book, certification fee and instruction.  Bareboat charter graduates can do their own bareboat cruising in Europe or other locations around the world.

The Text, Cruising Fundamentals, should be obtained as soon as possible to allow enough study time. The written test can be taken at Spinnaker Sailing in Redwood City before the cruise.  On the water requirements will be during the cruise.

Students who want to obtain Bareboat Charter Certification must charter at the Basic Coastal Cruising level at least three times before the cruise.

The Grenadines consists of a cluster of small islands between St. Vincent and Grenada. These islands are the most delightful and have some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in all of the Antilles. The Spinnaker Sailing group will be chartering out of St. Vincent which is just a biscuit toss from the heart of the Grenadines, one of the most undeveloped and unspoiled of the bareboat chartering areas in the Caribbean. This is also where "Pirates of the Caribbean" was recently filmed.

Join us as an individual, couple or put together your own group to fill your own boat.

If you have your own group and can act as skipper, you may charter your own boat and join the flotilla. You can choose the size of boat and other options. Contact Bob at Spinnaker for information about cost and availability for doing your own boat. You can also book your own private cruise through Spinnaker Sailing for charters with Sunsail, Sun Yachts, Footloose, and The Moorings.

At the northern end of the Grenadines about 8 miles from the Sunsail charter base in St. Vincent is Bequia, known as the Island of Fishermen. The model boats carved here are known around the world. Just south of Bequia is Mustique, a quiet enclave of the rich and famous. The Tobago Cays, near Union Island, make up a coral atoll where the richness of the reefs must be seen to be believed. Carriacou is at the southern end and beyond Carriacou is Grenada, an island of friendly people where a variety of spices are grown.
