New! Motoring and Docking Endorsement ASA 118
≈ October 11 ≈
9:30a - 4:30p
Though docking and mooring is taught and practiced in all ASA’s on-the-water courses, the vast majority of students feel that they can benefit from additional, focused practice in this crucial area of their sailing skills. Even students who can competently dock a particular sailboat in their local waters appreciate the chance to learn skills that will come in handy in different locations and circumstances, such as those that would be experienced when strong currents and tricky crosswinds are present, or when Mediterranean mooring or tight, close-quarters maneuvering is required.
This hands-on course allows students to learn theory and practice repetitive docking and casting-off maneuvers to reinforce understanding of theory, methods and skills. Both novice and experienced sailors will benefit from this course as the techniques apply to small outboard powered boats in the 15- to 20-foot range on up to 50-foot inboard single-screw cruising yachts. Sign up early so you can get your study materials ahead of time.

Cheeseburger in Paradise Regatta & BBQ
≈ Final ≈
This was the fastest Cheeseburger In Paradise Regatta in history. With the first three boats finishing very closely this provided an exciting finish for a 15 mile race. The race was so quick in fact that the BBQ committee next door at the Conference Center was surprised by the early finishers and there was a race behind the scenes to get things ready in time for the post race beverage. With the temperatures in the nineties, an ice cold drink afterwards was a welcome rep-rive and the BBQ was met with a crowd of hearty appetites. Over 40 people joined us for the BBQ and we all had a really good time. For anyone who did not make it to this event. . . There's always next year!!!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT RACING
≈ Call early ≈

If you want a boat, please call before Tuesday or it could be likely we will have to give you a Cal 24 or a Santana22. This time of year we usually use all 8 merits.
If you want to be crew, there are sometimes last minute spots available, but when too many racers call on Wednesday, there is a good chance that demand will outstrip supply. We need to arrange for skippers and boats in advance.
NEW START TIME
Be sure to Sign up early to get your own boat, or be part of a crew. Be here by 4:45pm or earlier to ensure you don't miss the boat. There is a BBQ and drinks afterward at the Sequoia Yacht Club.
