The J 29 has many improvements over the ever popular J 24 from which this boat gets its origins. More length on the waterline, sail area and light in the water, this boat goes well upwind and downwind. Getting to 6.5 knots upwind in 15 knots of wind is quite a remarkable feat for 30 a footer, and downwind the J 29 is exceptionally well endowed. Extremely popular in our racing series as this boat can be supplied with a spinnaker to those who know and respect this powerful sail.
