ASA 104 Bareboat Cruising 

Bareboat Charter

This is a 4 day class that is held Saturday and Sunday for two weekends and is designed to qualify students to skipper boats 30 to 50 ft. It includes: Familiarization with ships systems, inboard diesel engine, on board plumbing, 12 volt electrical systems, VHF radio, use of propane stove, motoring and docking, towing a dinghy, anchoring, safety equipment, skipper / crew responsibilities, person overboard drills, downwind sailing, sailing a compass course, destination sail with an overnight stay onboard, living afloat, safety, teamwork and more. With this course you will learn to sail, motor, and dock and operate larger boats.

The second weekend of the Bareboat Charter class is an overnight cruise to the North Bay. The class will generally meet at Spinnaker Sailing on Friday evening to overnight in the marina, sail Saturday, and return Sunday afternoon in time to clean up the boat and pump out the holding tank by 4:30.

The classes are held entirely on the boat with up to three students. Upon successful completion you’ll receive ASA certification for Bareboat Chartering.

Price: $2200 or Club Member: $1650

Prerequisites:Basic Keelboat Sailing (ASA 101), Basic Coastal Cruising (ASA 103), Motoring and Docking (ASA 118), and have skippered at least 3 times
