| Do I need to bring a sleeping bag? |
Not unless you plan on sleeping in the salon. All staterooms come with bedding. |
| Do I need to bring towels? |
No. All boats come with a fair supply of towels and soap similar to what you would find in a hotel. |
| Do the boats have CD players on them? |
Most often yes they do, but check with the charter agency or your broker (like me : ) to make sure once your reservation has been made or specifically ask for one when placing your reservation. You will have to supply the cd's. |
| Do I need to know how to swim? |
No you don't. Most people stay inside the boat while sailing, just like you stay inside the car while driving. All boats come with life vests so if you don't swim and you do find yourself accidentally in the water- all you have to do is float and wait for someone to come and get you. |
| f I want to go snorkeling should I bring my own mask and snorkel? |
Masks, snorkels and fins are provided and although experienced snorkeler/divers like to bring their own equipment, it's okay to use the loaner equipment. |
| I would like to try scuba diving on this trip. Can this be done? |
Dive companies usually offer "resort" scuba courses. These give a short course on the theory and practical use of equipment and then a supervised dive. Although these courses don't offer regular certification, sometimes subsequent dives can be made with nearby diving operators during the same trip. Resort diving is recommended for candidates with no applicable health problems who have experience and are comfortable with snorkeling. |
| Do I need to know how to sail? |
You don't but someone on the boat needs to know how to sail. IF you come on one of our group trips there are always lots of folks who know how and love to sail who can do this for you. You may even pick up a thing or two during your trip. |
| How much money should I bring with me? |
$500/person/week is usually enough to cover dining out almost every evening. A good supply of small bills are handy when paying individually while dining out as a group. Collecting cash while paying with a credit card for the whole table is a good way to replenish cash reserves while cruising. |
| I want to stay longer. Can I get extra hotel nights before or after my vacation? |
It's easy to make arrangements in advance to spend extra days on the island. If you are doing this last minute- you may have to change hotels depending on what hotel you are in and what time of season you are there. |
| How does trip insurance work? |
Trip insurance provided by the charter company at the time the trip is booked reimburses travelers for medical protection, baggage protection, travel accident protection, emergency assistance and trip cancellation/interruption. It should be noted that trip cancellation covers in case of illness, injury (of the traveler or a person in the immediate family) and cases where something goes awry with travel carriers, not if a traveler gets busy at work or the boss says, "You can't go." |
| What if I am called away on an emergency in the middle of the trip? |
Arrangements can usually be made with the airlines by paying an extra fee to leave early if necessary. This can be covered by trip cancellation insurance. Be sure to check on the details of your policy to see if it covers your situation. |
