Spinnaker at Golden Gate
how far is it from Redwood City to the San Francisco bay? Approximately 2 1/2 miles down the Redwood City Channel and you are there.
How long does it take to get to San Francisco from Redwood City? Well that all depends on several factors: Wind, current, wave size, speed of the vessel. Using our 25 to 40 foot boats it historically has taken anywhere from 3 1/2 to 6 hours so the above factors can impact the trip time up to 200%
Don't you have to get up to San Francisco to get good wind? San Francisco does have great sailing conditions, but it also has great fog and ship traffic, not to mention its much colder up there even in the middle of the summer. Sailing in the south bay frees you from these difficult conditions and also gives you warmer sailing weather and great wind as well and with all the wildlife preserves and marshes its also like sailing in the country.
